"Compress The Emotion" ...Photographer Esau Rosales

T: What elements inspire you when you take a photo?

E: What inspires me are all the other forms of art, I want to compress the emotion and feeling a song, painting, movie, food, poem, etc., imprints upon a person and reflect it in a fraction of a second, a frame, a photograph.

T: How long have you been taking photos [passionately] ?

E: I have been taking photographs all my life, I noticed that I liked it about 6 years ago, decided to go to school to study it because why not, and I have really gotten into it in the past two years.

T: Where were you when you took the photo with the bicycle shadow?

E:
When I took the bicycle picture I was at the Slauson station off the blue line, I just turned and looked down, saw the bike coming and clicked, I didn't think too much about it.

T: What thoughts/emotions go through your head when you look at a photo that you have just taken and are proud of?

E:
Well the first thing I feel is nothing, the feeling does not sink in until later, my mind is always going and it is not until I slow down and think back do I begin to feel excited. When I am editing, I set apart the ones that catch my eye at first glance, those are usually the ones that make it, the ones that do not need explanation. I stare at them, track my progress, see where I need work and keep on going.
